I Love Tommy Pham, and You Should Too – Gaslamp Ball

Alright, some of you young pups out there might’ve been all over this already. But for those of us (like yours truly) who intentionally avoid social media/live under a rock, this might have slipped past you.

Tommy Pham, formerly of the Tampa Bay Rays and now with our beloved Padres, took to social media today. That in and of itself is not newsworthy. But Tommy-boy took to Instagram to make his feelings known about now former Houston Astros manager AJ Hinch, as Hinch’s interview with MLB Network’s Tom Verducci aired. This interview also happened to coincide with additional reports that the Astros sign stealing program, dubbed “Codebreaker,” had actually been initiated by the Astros management. Safe to say, Pham had no interest in hiding his thoughts on the matter.

Now, this is not coming out of left field (well, it kinda is, since Pham’s our presumptive Left Fielder, but you get my point). Pham’s Rays lost to the Astros last year in the ALDS after taking the team to a deciding Game 5. Safe to say, despite the reports saying the Astros ended the sign stealing program back in 2018, Pham doesn’t buy it.

I for one applaud Tommy Pham for making his feelings known on this matter, and doing so in a pretty unequivocal manner. Too often, we hear about “anonymous” players expressing outrage over some scandal or another, but then either won’t go on the record, or if they do, make statements along the lines of mild annoyance. That’s not the case with Pham; seems like he’s going to let his feelings be known, one way or another.
